bren moore - Counsellor working with adults. I specialise in bereavement and loss and issues around anxiety and depression.
Bio
I am trained in Person Centred Experiential Therapy. This focuses on the clients emotional experiences and their exploration. I facilitate the client in understanding these processes, and through the knowledge gained, help the client make more informed life choices for themselves moving forward. I have an understanding of CBT having been the administrator for a work based online support program. I specifically gained certification in practicing online therapy due to the circumstances around the covid pandemic and the inabilty to engage in face to face counselling. I have continued to update and refresh my knowledge of counselling, specifically in the areas of Existential therapy and time limited counselling processes. My main aim is to create a therapeutic relationship were the client feels comfortable, confident and supported in exploring what can be very difficult, sometimes confusing emotional processes. Through this process of supported exploration the knowledge gained by the client and the greater understanding of themselves will help the client make sense of the past understand the present and guide them towards making the best life choices for themselves and their future.

Experience
I have been working as part of a counselling team for a charity specialising in bereavement for the past 4 years. This has brought me in to contact with clients affected by all aspects of loss, including suicide, those lost to covid, long term illness and sudden deaths. All these experiences have enriched, in a practical context, my understanding of the very different and very personal journeys of each clients loss. My journey to becoming a bereavement counsellor started with my own varied, and painful experiences of bereavement from a young age, and my own non engagement with these losses, for decades sometimes, as no one is taught how to grieve, we just find a way to stumble through or unfortunately ignore. Being given the opportunity to engage with these processes and emotions is the key to understanding ourselves and finding the path that is right for us, this is what i support my clients in trying to find, the right way for them. I am the main counsellor for a community interest company working with clients who have recovered from issues with alcohol or substance misuse. I support clients with issues around anxiety and depression, but also the ideas of self worth, identity and positive life choices made through a greater understanding of ourself and our internal emotional processes. I was administrator for an online CBT program directed at supporting those working in the care sector, both with issues brought about through work and the clients personal lives. Prior to becoming a counsellor i worked in the care sector for many years, including as the registered manager of my own care agency. And before any of the above I was a professional musician for 20 years and have an intimate knowledge of the creative sector and the issues and difficulties working in this very demanding environment can bring.
