Bio

I believe the key to good therapy is in the relationship between therapist and client and our sessions together are an opportunity, through exploration, to try and understand why you might be feeling the way you do.

My training is in psychotherapy and phenomenology and one of the advantages of this approach is that it tells us not what to think but rather, how to explore and understand why we think and experience life in the way we do. Through the building of our relationship of trust, we create an environment where you can feel free to explore your thoughts, feelings, dislikes and hidden desires.

By having open and frank conversations, we can begin to understand how you view yourself and others in the world. It is not for me to tell you what you should think but rather, explore and understand with you, why you think and experience the way you do.

The process of therapy is conversational and experimental, making our sessions an opportunity for you to become clearer about yourself, more confident and more able to discover a new way of being that feels right to you.

Experience

My training and qualification is in Psychotherapy and Phenomenology and I am currently reading towards a UKCP accreditation as an Existential-Analytic psychotherapist.

I have many years’ experiences of working with men and women who suffers with problems such as anxiety, depression and relationship issues. I combined running my private practice with a charity counselling organisation where I work with incarcerated women who suffers the effect from crime, loss of a child as well as domestic and sexual abuse. Whoever I work with I always encourage the client to tell their story in their own time and in their own way; creating a safe space without gimmicks or presences.

Throughout life I have gained a good understanding for different religion and cultures and how these traditions can influence a person’s worldview but also cause conflicts within an individual or family. I also understand that, though regular therapy sessions are important once the work has started, it is only a small part of your life. If you working shift or have other commitments, don’t let that stop you seeking help, call me and we can discuss how we could fit therapy around your life.
